The stones

All the stones we use for our silver jewelry and our gold jewelry are semi-precious natural stones. Coming from the best deposits around the world, they are carefully selected based on their quality and are distinguished by their shape, shine, cut, inclusions and of course also by their natural beauty.

The main difference between natural stones and synthetic stones is that the latter are created in a laboratory, with the aim of imitating the natural beauty of the former, but they have a much lower cost and in fact are much less valuable. In fact, the natural veining of gems is very difficult to replicate, furthermore, natural stones do not degrade over time and maintain an authentic brilliance and shine.

You will surely have understood that it is of fundamental importance to be able to recognize the value of precious stones when purchasing a jewel.

There are of course many different types of cuts to choose from, from the timeless brilliant cut to the elegant marquise cut , each with its own unique meaning. E ach cut carries with it a strong symbolic component and reflects distinctive traits of the wearer, making the choice of the precious stone truly significant.

Among the cuts that we at ADUNA prefer there are certainly:

- the brilliant cut : also known as the round cut, it is perhaps the most famous and iconic of the gem cuts. There are exactly 58 facets arranged according to a specific pattern that increases the stone's ability to reflect and capture light. The round brilliant cut is also very popular for its versatility, in fact, it is suitable for almost all types of precious stones and is the preferred cut for diamonds. We used it in the Circulus pendant . The round cut represents eternity and infinite love, this makes it particularly suitable for engagement and wedding jewelry.

- the marquise or navette cut : it has an elongated shape with pointed ends, which makes the gem appear larger than it actually is, which is why it can give the optical impression of lengthening the finger when it is set in a ring. This cut has a real history, its name comes from the Marquise de Pompadour , favorite of King Louis XV of France who personally commissioned for her from the most famous jeweler in France a precious stone in the shape of her lips. We have used it in the 925 silver and 18-karat gold Infinitum earrings.

- the drop cut : a mix between the brilliant cut and the marquise cut , it is a versatile cut that can be used in many different types of jewelry. An elegant and individual cut, with its teardrop shape it expresses personality and grace. We used it in the Stilla Vitae earrings.

- the heart cut: particularly popular for engagement rings and jewelry designed to celebrate special relationships, we have used it in the Amore hand pendant. Its "heart" shape evokes feelings of union and affection and evokes a deep and lasting bond, in fact, wearing a jewel with a heart cut emphasizes the special bond that exists between two individuals.

- the baguette cut : characterized by long rectangular facets, it is known for its clean lines and geometric shape . Very popular during the Art Deco period, it continues to be a favorite among those who appreciate minimalist and vintage designs . The beauty of this cut lies in its simplicity and the way it manages to amplify the clarity of a gemstone over its brilliance. We used it in the Laurus ring.

- the cabochon cut : smooth and rounded, usually dome-shaped. It is one of the oldest cuts and is widely used for opaque or translucent gemstones. We used it in the Tulip ring and the Peony ring.
Its smooth and rounded shape evokes peace and tranquility. Unlike faceted cuts, which sparkle and reflect light, the cabochon cut instills a sense of calm that makes it a symbol of inner balance, quiet and harmony.

For some particular models, such as the Rovi ring or the Sphera pendant , both made in 925 silver and black onyx stone , we had to study and create truly unusual cuts for the stones, such as the "brick" or "sphere" cuts.

Among the natural stones we use are purple amethyst, blue topaz, green peridot, red garnet, orange citrine, blue iolite, black onyx, rose quartz.

Each stone has its own specific meaning - emotional or spiritual - for this reason it is of fundamental importance to know its properties before purchasing: iolite fights shyness and sadness, amethyst is a real natural tranquilizer, garnet instills courage and confidence. Onyx gives security and strength, peridot gives vitality, citrine is useful for inner calm, while blue topaz helps to concentrate and relax.
